For decades, our country’s infrastructure has suffered from a systemic lack of investment.
Now President Biden has unveiled one of the most ambitious infrastructure initiatives proposed in decades – and we need Congress to pass it without any significant changes. Any federal infrastructure bill must be both wide-ranging and environmentally conscious, and it must ensure that corporations fund the plan through increased tax rates.
Biden’s infrastructure plan is about more than just repairing our crumbling roads, bridges, and schools.
Across the country, American families drink polluted water, lack access to affordable, high-speed internet, or experience power outages too often. We also need to get serious about combating climate change and fixing past injustices against communities of color who were harmed by decisions like where to put highways or build pipelines.
Congress can pay for these long-needed initiatives by raising the corporate tax rate from 21% to 28%, which is still less than it was prior to 2017 when it was slashed by Donald Trump to benefit his wealthy corporate allies and donors.
Congress must not allow far-right threats or bad-faith negotiations to derail the delivery of a strong infrastructure package for the American people!
