Dear allies,
We continue to make strides in our battle against the coronavirus pandemic, with increased vaccinations and decreasing numbers of infections and cases among the general public. As a new dawn sets upon us with falling unemployment numbers and a steadily growing economy, we must remember to support those who stepped up during this pandemic. Our communities are being held together by our brave frontline workers, including doctors, nurses, grocery workers, the public transit workers, care providers and many others. So today, as the nurses of St. Vincent Hospital continue their strike, we stand in solidarity with them and extend our support.
We know that this pandemic has revealed the cracks in our system, and in our recovery, we must build back better systems that work for all of us. Much work remains to be done to ensure that the state’s recovery is an equitable one that also reaches those hit hardest by the pandemic.

Demand That The MA Legislature Make Our Public Transit Systems Equitable And Affordable
Riders and workers are the lifeblood of our public transit systems. We must ensure that public transit in Massachusetts is affordable, equitable and accessible, and meets the needs of communities of color and working families. Sign this petition and join the Public Transit Public Good Coalition in calling for:
- One environmental justice rider seat and one worker seat on the new MBTA Board, chosen from nominations made by labor and community organizations.
- Reduced fare programs for low-income riders on all modes.
- New progressive revenue measures to ensure public transit is paid for by those who have plenty, not by those who are struggling to get by.

The pandemic has exposed the inequalities in our state’s child care system. Low-income communities and communities of color have all disproportionately borne the brunt of the pandemic. With the American Rescue Plan funding, our leaders have a unique opportunity to match the federal Child Tax Credit and support our families and caregivers in need. Massachusetts is facing an environmental justice crisis! State programs, like Mass Save, are designed to work with residents and businesses to improve their energy efficiency, ultimately cutting energy expenses and limiting carbon emissions that contribute to climate change. These programs however have failed to service many of the people most in need.
Sign the petition to urge Governor Charlie Baker, Lt Governor Polito, and Environmental Secretary Katie Theohorides to reject any plan that doesn’t center the needs of environmental justice and low-income communities, and increase access and remove barriers for underserved and language isolated communities across the state. Diaper Drive to benefit Brookview House
Join us and the Greater Boston Labor Council for a diaper drive that will help support families who are struggling during an economic hardship. Drop off diapers & toiletries at the Boston Teachers Union parking lot anytime from 3:30-5 p.m. and stay to meet our honored guest, Mayor Kim Janey, at 4 p.m. Supplies needed include: diapers (sizes 3-6), body wash, lotion, tampons/pads, cologne samples, deodorant and sunscreen.
