Trust Black Families Hello John, Please join us next Friday, May 21 for a virtual discussion with our DJ Jaffe Advocate, Sabah Muhammed titled, “Trust Black Families: Incorporating Race in the SMI Conversation.” Are you finding yourself uncomfortable in white-dominated mental illness spaces that refuse to talk about race? Or have you read the many terrifying news stories about Black people diagnosed with a severe mental illness and are confused why the reporter only focused on their race? It’s not right. Because as you know, both race and their severe mental illness diagnosis should be a part of the conversation. There is no reason not to combine those conversations, yet it rarely happens. In this conversation, we will hold space for Black families to come and learn about what they can do to be heard. We also want to hear from you, this is a conversation! Bring your thoughts on this topic, so we can all walk away with something useful. Don’t miss this important conversation. Join us! Register here.
