Dear John,

More baby monkeys have entered the UK pet trade.

Just last week our investigator went back to the awful pet shop in Manchester and documented more caged marmoset monkeys on sale to the public.

The monkeys were held captive in two 3m2 wire cages. A notice on the cage door announced that not only were the baby monkeys there already sold, but so too were the next two groups of babies born; ripped from their mothers and forced to endure a whole lifetime of captivity and suffering

John, we have a chance to end this cruelty once and for all.

I am delighted to say that after years of campaigning and lobbying, a ban on the primate pet trade is more possible than it has ever been!

Last year the government committed to a ban on primates as pets, and just days ago their intention was cemented when the ban was included in a list of government plans in the Queen's speech.

This ban would mean an end to the cruelty we witnessed at that pet shop, and an end to the keeping of monkeys and other non-human primates in 'private settings' like people's homes.

But the ban is not secure yet. There have been indications that the ban may not cover all primates, and that some people may be able to secure licences to keep them captive.

This cannot be allowed to happen! We must keep up the fight to secure this much needed and long overdue ban and make sure all primates are protected!

That is why I am asking you to please consider making a donation to our appeal which will fuel the campaign to end the trade. With your help we will do all we can to lobby government, feedback to their draft legislation and press for a ban that will truly end this vile trade utterly and completely.

Primates are not pets!

For the animals,

P.S. The ban on primates is looking more and more likely, but we need to keep fighting to make sure a ban protects ALL primates. Can you make a donation to our appeal today to make that happen? Thank you.
