Hi there,
I'll never forget how close our first race was in 2018. In fact, it was the closest in New Jersey's history. Then, we beat every pundit's predictions to win by more than 30,000 votes in 2020.
We made history in 2018 and beat the odds in 2020. Sustaining Donors will play a key role in 2022.
That victory came at no small expense: it took about $7 million dollars to run our 2020 campaign, and it will likely take about $8 million to win in 2022. To get there, we'll need thousands of grassroots donors like you to chip in what they can -- whether it's $5 or $50 at a time.
And, with our local media market only getting more expensive and Washington Republicans already trying to buy back my seat, I'm reaching out today to extend a personal invitation:
If you can, will you become a 2022 Sustaining Donor by committing to a monthly recurring donation today? Your continued support will help us go toe-to-toe with both the GOP and their corporate super PAC allies -- no matter what they throw at us.
We need 125 sustaining donors to step up today. I'm hoping you'll be one of the first.
I'll never take a dime from corporate PACs, so they've already started clogging our newsfeeds and running attack ads on TV to try to gain an early edge. The NRCC is stepping up their efforts, too. Since they know their path to retaking the House starts in NJ-03, they'll spend and say anything it takes to win -- no matter how outrageous and untrue.
We'll defeat their dark money and outright lies by telling the truth about my record of service and building a movement focused on restoring civility. But, my team needs to know that we'll have a healthy base of grassroots support to get the job done each month. And we need to step it up now in order to keep pace in the new phase of the election that we already see coming.
Thanks for considering becoming one of our Sustaining Donors today. It means a lot to me. I don't just want to win this next election. I want to win it the right way. That's the same way we've won every race thus far: by putting people before politics, and relying on grassroots support instead of corporate PACs. Sustaining Donors are a key part of that, and I'm grateful for your support!
