Just two days ago, House Republicans voted to remove Liz Cheney from their leadership. Why? Because she dared to tell the truth and stood up to Trump’s Big Lie.

Now, they are replacing Cheney with someone with less devotion to the truth. A Trump sycophant who not only defended him as he was inviting foreign interference in our election, but also pushed his Big Lie when it was over.

Kevin McCarthy’s new hand-selected leader is none other than Elise Stefanik, who abandoned her “moderate” beginnings to defend Trump over the indefensible. Eager to advance within Trump’s GOP, she voted to overturn the election and was only too happy to spread his Big Lie.

But this isn’t about Elise. It’s about what’s become of the Republican Party. They are now a small tent party, with no room for the truth, or anyone who forsakes blind obedience to their leader Donald Trump.

Trump’s many lies are now the only truth for the Republican Party. Around the country they use his Big Lie to champion voter suppression efforts in dozens of states.

They aren’t willing to work with Democrats on any policy, no matter how much it hurts their constituents. And they care little about the damage they do to our democracy in the process.

So we have a choice.

We can sit back and allow them to lie their way to victory in 2022, where the GOP has a real chance to win back both the House and Senate. Or we can put in the work to defeat them.
