Dear John,

Georgia, Florida, Texas and the list keeps growing.  State Legislature after state legislature is adopting new restrictions on voting, all in response to a demonstrably false narrative about fraud.  Public officials being ousted for speaking the truth. Judicial decisions allowing undisclosed campaign dollars to overwhelm the voices of real people. Democratic institutions are being attacked on all sides.

Two weeks ago, the American Sustainable Business Council and some of our members launched a new working group to help elevate and amplify the voice of the business community.  Our next meeting is Monday, May 17, at 4p ET.

Please join us as this working group develops a business response to a variety of issues, including but not limited to:

  • Campaign Finance Reform
  • Political Spending
  • Voter Access and Voter Rights
  • Civic Engagement

The relationship between a functioning democracy and a healthy business environment, between voter participation and economy activity couldn’t be clearer.  Indeed a study by the Washington Center for Equitable Growth demonstrated That is why business must make its voice heard.  That is why we are particular focused on the For the People Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, which seek to restore important protections for voter access and the balance in our democratic institutions.

We will also be discussing engaging with other groups working on these important issues.
