Mayorkas "Chose to Make Excuses, Hide From Accountability" in Senate Hearing <[link removed]> – Mayorkas repeatedly pleaded ignorance or dodged legitimate questions about the state of the border
crisis. The reason why is obvious: the crisis has gotten so bad, those responsible for it are working overtime to avoid accountability and embarrassment for their failure to secure our borders and enforce our laws. The secretary repeatedly misled the public about the border crisis, falsely blaming the Trump administration for the crisis President Biden’s
policies created. He refused to acknowledge the Biden administration’s policies as a major factor in the massive increase in illegal immigration since Biden took office. He all but shed tears over the plight of unaccompanied minors (UACs) making the trek to the southern border, while failing to acknowledge the Biden administration’s role in driving a historic number of UACs to the border in the first place. Vaccinated Americans now may go without masks in most places, the C.D.C. said. <[link removed]> – In saying that immunized people needn't wear masks indoors or outdoors, CDC is taking an important step toward following the science. CDC is late to acknowledge this, but it has come a long way. Just last September, then-CDC Director Robert Redfield told Congress: “I might go as far as to say that this face mask is more guaranteed to protect me against COVID than when I take a COVID vaccine.” Clinical trials and real-world data have long demonstrated the effectiveness of vaccines in protecting people and
reducing transmission. CDC should continue to revise its recommendations to better inform the public. Heritage expert: Doug Badger <[link removed]>
'Solutions Act' would not solve the border crisis <[link removed]> – The bill increases the number of Border Patrol agents by 600 and adds 300 personnel to ICE. To accelerate the processing of illegal aliens into the U.S., it also adds 150 new immigration judges, 300 asylum officers, and other relevant support staff. On top of that, it layers on more taxpayer-funded legal orientation and consultation services for illegal immigrants and carves out greater roles for nongovernmental organizations that frequently
advocate for policies that support illegal immigration, more public benefits, and more federal grants. This circular business model, funded by taxpayers, should be extinguished. The Biden administration created the current border crisis by undoing Trump-era border security and immigration measures. Rather than end the crisis by resuming the effective Migrant Protection Protocols and Asylum Cooperation Agreements, this administration seems bent on processing illegal aliens and transporting them to the interior more quickly. 6 Charts Highlight Troubling Trends Driven by Growing Nondefense Spending <[link removed]> – A common thread linking these six charts is the relentless growth of federal spending,
driven both by congressional failure to reform unsustainable programs and by political incentives to create new ones. Unfortunately, Biden wants to make these problems worse by adding trillions more to non-defense spending, adding to the national debt, and hiking taxes in a way that would put us on a path to national decline. It is vital that Congress wakes up to reality and puts us back on a path to solvency. Heritage expert: David Ditch <[link removed]>
