Friend,
Yesterday, Liz Cheney was voted out of House GOP leadership by her colleagues. They removed her because she did something that's unacceptable to the Republican base: she refused to go along with Donald Trump's lies about the 2020 election.
The Republicans have chosen Trump over truth. And their choice to echo his lies about electoral fraud has already resulted in a series of laws that restrict voting rights -- in Georgia, Texas, Florida, and Arizona. The right-wing efforts to limit democracy are going to continue, unless we do something. That's why we need to pass the For the People Act.
I proudly voted to pass this bill through the House, and the Senate just held its first committee hearing on it. The law would protect access to early voting, expand same-day voter registration, and establish automatic voter registration.
A democracy is at its strongest when more people have a stake in its outcomes -- and we achieve that when we protect and expand voting rights. But pro-Trump Republicans are going to do everything they can to stop us.
We need to show that the American people stand for the right to vote. Please help us get 20,000 citizen co-signers in support of the For the People Act.
Thank you,
Jennifer
