Mary Gay and her colleagues have passed a lot of great legislation in the House, but very little of it has made it to the Senate floor.
Why? Because the 50 Republican senators in the upper chamber have the filibuster at their disposal. Mitch McConnell even said that “100% of my focus is on stopping the new administration,” which means that, no matter what legislation is passed by the House, McConnell and his party will stop it in its tracks -- they won't even read it, just because it came from House Democrats and President Biden.
Many people believe that the time is ripe to do away with the filibuster once and for all. But it's a controversial topic, which is why Mary Gay wants to know where you stand:
