Show up with us for care and justice
Dear John,
From June 5-8, water protectors will gather in Northern Minnesota to put their bodies on the line and block Line 3 construction. We all have a responsibility to act for treaties, climate, water, and future generations. Join us, and bring a friend.
TakeAction is planning a metro-area action to remind elected officials that they have a responsibility to act, too. This week, our community gathered on our St. Paul office parking lot for an art build. We painted banners and signs and learned songs together. It felt so good to be in community, working together for treaty rights and climate justice.
In spite of, and because of, everything the past year has thrown at us, we know how to come together and support each other in new ways. We know how to show up with and for each other through trauma and oppression in the name of care and justice.
It’s been almost a year since George Floyd was murdered by Minneapolis police. In December, Dolal Idd was murdered by Minneapolis police. Just last month, Daunte Wright was murdered by Brooklyn Center police. We continue to work in defense of Black lives by reimagining public safety in our city and calling on our state lawmakers to pass common-sense public safety legislation.
From Northern Minnesota to the Twin Cities, our liberation is bound together. I’m so grateful to be in communities that consistently show up in deep, radical care and action. Join us in Northern Minnesota from June 5-8, and spread the word to your friends. Read this article and share it with a loved one. Contact your state lawmaker and tell them that the accountability measures included in the House omnibus public safety bill are necessary - and the bare minimum.
Building the world we need and deserve will take all of us, so let’s build it together.
In solidarity,
Jessie (she/her)
