John,
Believe it or not, we're almost halfway through May. Cori's had a busy month packed with votes, hosting a Cabinet official in St. Louis, committee hearings, and meeting constituents in St. Louis. But, while Cori's been hard at work, our fundraising numbers have started to slow down.
To be candid, our fundraising so far this month has been lower than what we expected. So, we've set a goal to raise $15,000 by tomorrow at midnight to make up the difference and keep Cori in Congress. In a minute we're going to ask you to chip in $5 to support Cori's work, but first, let us tell you what Cori's been up to this month.
Cori started out the month with a visit from the head of the EPA, Administrator Michael S. Regan, and a tour of the Chain of Rocks Water Treatment Plant, one of two water treatment plants in St. Louis. While touring the plant, Cori saw first-hand what we need in order to deliver environmental justice and is taking what she learned back to Congress as she advocates for a Green New Deal for Cities.
In St. Louis, Cori also went on her first Board of Aldermen Ward Walks, joining Alderwomen Shameem Clark Hubbard and Annie Rice to meet with constituents and hear about the issues directly impacting them. Cori's number one concern is always the people of St. Louis, which is why she takes time out of her schedule to be in the community with her neighbors.
Then, Cori made headlines after testifying in Congress about her own experience giving birth and the challenges her babies faced to survive. Black mothers, birthing people, and babies die because doctors don’t believe our pain, so Cori told her story to fight for change.
John, Cori's not a career politician. She made her way to Congress through the power of community. And she hasn't forgotten that. As our Congresswoman, Cori strives to serve everyone — teachers, small business owners, children, and families — in St. Louis every day.
But while Cori is out fighting for a more equitable and just world on the ground in St. Louis and in the halls of Congress, she doesn't have time to worry about fundraising. We need to keep Cori focused on fighting for this community, which means we need your help hitting our $15,000 fundraising goal by tomorrow at midnight.
Thank you for your support
Team Cori
