If you know anything about how our national transportation priorities are shaped, you know that advocacy organizations play a huge role. And one of the biggest ones, Transportation for America, has long advocated for better streets for all road users.
The only problem? They've done it by making "raising the gas tax or otherwise raising new funding overall...a core plank of [their] platform."
(Those are their words, by the way, not ours.)
If you got a little disappointed reading that, buckle up. Because T4A just made a big announcement that Strong Towns advocates everywhere should be celebrating: they're no longer going to push Congress to spend more on a broken system that has undermined the strength and prosperity of American cities for far too long—and killed unconscionable numbers of people on our streets along the way. And instead, they're taking a big step back and asking a different set of questions that we think could really change the world.
