Friend,

As Chair of the Senate Subcommittee on the Constitution, I'm continuing to push for urgent action to end our country's ever-increasing epidemic of gun violence: most recently only days ago by re-introducing legislation to close the "ghost gun" loophole.

But before I continue shaping our agenda, I need your help: Please, will you take a moment to share your feedback on what Democrats should be prioritizing? These issues are absolutely critical, and I need input directly from people like you.

My Untraceable Firearms Act would close the "ghost gun" loophole for good – ensuring violent extremists, domestic abusers, and terrorists cannot evade background checks and other safety measures by building untraceable guns from kits and websites at home. That is why I led a hearing on Tuesday to focus attention on and action toward our nation's dangerously lax gun laws.

But we're already drawing fierce opposition from Republicans as a result. When we shared the benefits of instituting a federal red flag law – a law that could help prevent mass shootings – Sen. Ted Cruz tried to score cheap political points by attacking Connecticut's red flag law and falsely claiming it didn't work.

What happened next? His own committee witness – the person he'd invited to the hearing – actually corrected him, saying what we all knew: Ted Cruz has it wrong.

As Republicans attempt to spread mistruths in order to undermine our agenda, I'm exposing their lies – and pushing for meaningful action on gun violence prevention and other critical issues.

Let me make one thing clear: Senate Democrats are not taking our fragile control of the chamber for granted. Not for a single second. But as our work continues – and as Republican opposition to President Biden heats up – it's essential for me to hear from supporters like you to make sure we're on the right track. So will you take this quick survey and leave me feedback about what's on your mind? My team and I are looking for 500 responses before our strategy meeting at 9 a.m. tomorrow.

TAKE THE SURVEY: [link removed]

I appreciate you sharing your thoughts – and I look forward to reporting back soon with more updates from Capitol Hill.

Dick
