FDA Authorizes Pfizer's COVID-19 Vaccine for Children 12 to 15On May 10 the FDA announced that the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine is now authorized for use in children ages 12 to 15. The FDA found the vaccine to have an efficacy and safety profile similar to that seen in adults. CF Foundation Invests Up to $8.4M in SpliSense for the Development of Potential Rare Mutation TherapyAs part of our Path to a Cure initiative, today we announced that we will invest up to $8.4 million in SpliSense to develop an antisense oligonucleotide therapy for people with cystic fibrosis who have splicing mutations and potentially other rare mutations. This potential therapy would enable the creation of a full-length CFTR protein, helping restore the proper balance of salt and fluids in the lungs to improve lung fuction. Read the announcement »

Molecular Analysis Identifies Key Differences in Lungs of People with Cystic FibrosisA team of researchers from the CF Foundation, UCLA, and Cedars-Sinai published a first-of-its-kind study comparing the cellular makeup of the lungs of people with and without CF. The research, featured on the cover of Nature Magazine, illustrates how CF changes the cells in the airways, identifies newly discovered subtypes of cells, and could reveal targets for future genetic therapies.
