House Republicans have voted to remove Liz Cheney from leadership for the sin of refusing to support Donald Trump’s Big Lie that the election was stolen.

Dear John,

Yesterday, House Republicans voted to remove Liz Cheney from leadership for the sin of refusing to go along with Donald Trump's Big Lie that the election was stolen.

This episode proves once and for all that the Republican Party has completely succumbed to Donald Trump--and must never be allowed to regain control of Congress or the White House.

There was a moment after January 6 when it seemed the GOP might have discovered a modicum of integrity. Now it's clear that will never happen.

Inequality Media Civic Action is one of the only progresssive organizations with a large enough following on social media to go toe-to-toe with the far right, and we're fighting back every day with viral videos and other content to build support for progressive policies and call out the Republicans' failures.

Will you make a donation to push back against the Republicans' lies and help make sure Trump never sets foot in the White House again?

Liz Cheney is one of the most conservative members of Congress. She voted with Trump 93% of the time.

So why was she forced from leadership? Because she refused to lie for Donald Trump.

While Republicans like Kevin McCarthy and Lindsey Graham capitulated to Trump, Cheney said openly what they all know to be true: that there was no voter fraud, that Joe Biden is the legitimately elected president of the United States, and that Trump bears responsibility for instigating the Capitol attack on January 6.

This is a truly terrifying and unprecedented moment for American democracy. We've had corrupt and bad leaders before. We've seen far-right Republicans put the interests of campaign donors over the people.

But we've never had an entire major political party buy into a complete alternate reality of lies.

What's perhaps most frightening is that Fox News and huge social media demagogues like Ben Shapiro and Franklin Graham are selling the base of the Republican Party on Trump's lies as well. We now live in a country where a majority of Trump voters say the 2020 presidential election was invalid, nearly half say they won't get the COVID-19 vaccine, and a plurality blame Democrats and "antifa" for the January 6 insurrection.

But thanks to gerrymandering, voter suppression, misinformation, and massive corporate money flooding our elections, the Republicans are dangerously close to retaking the House and Senate in the midterm elections. And if this Republican Party is in control of Congress during the 2024 presidential election, it is safe to assume that this time they really will vote to overturn any election they don't win.

The only way to preserve American democracy is to defeat the Republicans again in 2022, just like we did in 2020. Only if Republicans are locked out of power year after year, election after election, will this fever break.

The team at Inequality Media Civic Action has built one of the largest audiences on social media of any progresssive organization, from YouTube and Twitter to Instagram and TikTok, where we're fighting back every day with viral videos and other content to build support for progressive policies. But we count on your small donations to power this work.

Please donate whatever you can afford--$5, $10, $50, or more--and help make sure Trump never sets foot in the White House again.

Thanks for all you do,
