I'm alarmed by what is going on with the Republican Party's leadership.
House Republicans have ousted Rep. Liz Cheney from their leadership team because she refused to spread lies about a stolen election and refused to allow former President Donald Trump to get away with violating our constitution by inciting an insurrection at the Capitol.
Cheney told the truth.
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, despite purging Cheney, claims the GOP embraces "free thought and debate."
But the reality is Republican leadership in Washington is working to propagate falsehoods and sow distrust in our most basic democratic norms. They are building false narratives in an attempt to poison our democracy for political power -- no matter the cost.
If Cheney was ousted for standing up to threats against our democracy, then what happens if we lose this seat or if McCarthy becomes Speaker of the House?
Look, I don't want to find out, and I don't think you do either.
It's never mattered more for us to continue to build a campaign based on love, compassion, and facts. It's how we've won before and it's how we'll win again.
