On behalf of the thousands of families we represent throughout the country, Eagle Forum commends House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and House Republicans for ousting Liz Cheney from her position as Chair of the Republican Conference.
“Disagreements about political issues are inevitable and should not disqualify legislators from leadership,” said Eagle Forum President Colleen Holcomb. “But, when Liz Cheney blamed the violence and lawlessness of a few rogue actors on President Trump and the thousands of law-abiding Americans who gathered at the Capitol on January 6th to peacefully protest widespread election irregularities, she broke faith with the grassroots of her Party and disqualified herself from leadership.”
“Leader McCarthy’s and House Republicans’ bold decision to remove Cheney from leadership tells grassroots conservatives that the Republican Party is listening to them, and is no longer controlled by an elitist Establishment of familiar last names,” said Holcomb.
“Hard-working men and women witnessed a compromised 2020 election that was ignored by courts and the media, and they were right to gather peacefully to make their voices heard,” Holcomb noted.
“Elected officials should be working together to punish those responsible for commandeering a legitimate protest and overshadowing the serious issue of election integrity with shameful violence. Using that violence as an excuse to villainize innocent Americans and to settle political vendettas is an inexcusable betrayal. Thank you to all who took a stand against it!” Holcomb concluded.
