Tell the EPA to Permanently Veto the Pebble Mine and Save Alaska's Spectacular Bristol Bay

With a new environmentally friendly administration under President Biden, there’s a real opportunity to block this toxic mega-mine once and for all. Help us create a wave of public pressure calling on the EPA to shut down the Pebble Mine project.

NRDC Activist,

The disastrous Pebble Mine project has been threatening to destroy Alaska's spectacular Bristol Bay wilderness and upend the lives of the region's Indigenous communities for more than two decades now.

And after years of pressure from area residents, thousands of NRDC supporters like you, and our partners and allies in Alaska, the Army Corps of Engineers rejected the toxic gold and copper mega-mine last November — a very promising victory in the fight to save Alaska's Bristol Bay, but a temporary one.

The mining company and its backers have already appealed the Army Corps' decision and promised to fight tooth and nail to develop the mine.

We need a permanent solution — and the surest, most immediate way to permanently put an end to the dangerous Pebble Mine is for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to veto the project now.

Let's join together to pressure the EPA to shut down this toxic mega-mine that would cause irreversible harm to Bristol Bay, its wildlife, and the Indigenous communities who live there. Take action now >>

If fully developed, the Pebble Mine would produce up to 10 billion tons of mining waste that would threaten the region's world-renowned salmon runs, abundant wildlife, and Indigenous communities.

The Yup'ik, Dena'ina, and Alutiiq Tribes have relied on the salmon fishery for generations, and they have been forced to spend decades leading the fight to shut down the Pebble Mine project so that it does not destroy their home and their livelihoods.

President Biden's EPA can — and must — put an end to this madness once and for all.

Help us overwhelm the EPA with messages calling on the agency to veto the Pebble Mine and put an end to countless more decades of fighting this destructive project.

Time and time again NRDC activists like you have stood with NRDC and the people of Bristol Bay in opposition to the Pebble Mine. We've campaigned together for years to stop this disastrous mine — and we can't stop now.

Your support has meant the world to me. I know with you by our side again, we can shut down this devastating mine for good.

Thank you for all you do.

Warmly,
Joel
