An update on our efforts to support leaders who put country over party | Email not displaying correctly? View it in your browser [link removed]

Hello,

The trend is clear, and it’s alarming: the most radical elements of the Republican Party continue to wage a fact-free assault on our democracy.

Yesterday, Rep. Liz Cheney was ousted from her position in House Republican leadership. It was the second time since January 6th that she faced such a vote for telling the truth: that the 2020 election was not stolen and that the former president should be held accountable for the lies that led to the insurrection at the Capitol.

One of New Politics’ primary goals for the 2022 cycle is to bring a new generation of leadership into the GOP. We need your help, will you chip in $25 to support our recruitment efforts?

Our movement is growing, but we’re competing with an undercurrent of extremism that animates the most tribal base of the GOP. Revitalizing our democracy will take a bipartisan effort, but it’s a project that is not compatible with lies that undermine its very fabric.

Here are some of the ways we’ve been supporting principled leaders who put allegiance to their country, not their political party, first:

• Kicked off our 2022 candidate recruiting effort with a virtual panel featuring Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), an Air Force veteran who’s been outspoken in decrying conspiracy theories about the 2020 election
• Endorsed Michael Wood in the special election for Texas’ 6th Congressional district. He had a tough path to victory from the get-go and was unsuccessful against more well-established competitors, but we’re proud of the principled race he ran
• Recruited Bryan Jones to challenge Congressman Matt Gaetz in the Republican primary for FL-1. Bryan, born and raised in the district, is an active duty servicemember who will announce his campaign later this summer

Our candidate recruiting effort is well underway for the 2022 cycle; we’ve had conversations with hundreds of individuals about entering the political arena as the next step in their service career. Our goal is to advise 150 candidates up and down the ballot — and we’re actively fundraising the $3 million 2021 budget it’s going to take to do it.
