The phrase “critical race theory” has become the GOP's new “woke” -- a loosely defined phrase that the GOP uses to attack anything they please.
Critical race theory is actually a framework for better understanding systemic racism, a concept that threatens Republicans such as Arkansas governor Tom Cotton, who benefits from and perpetuates white supremacy, going so far as to call slavery a “necessary evil.”
Nothing could be farther from the truth.
And now Cotton is claiming that “critical race theory teaches … that America is an evil, oppressive place.”
The only way to combat the GOP's inability to face US history is to elect diverse Democrats up and down the ballot, in hundreds of elected offices nationwide.
But, the alarm bells that “critical race theory” sets off amongst GOP voters are a serious threat, and we have to act right now to confront Republicans like Cotton.
