Today’s the day of the annual CVS Health shareholders meeting, which means it’s an opportune time to contact their top leaders and demand an end to their bankrolling of anti-Medicare for All efforts.
In case you haven’t heard the news: CVS Health quietly donated $5 million last year to the largest dark-money lobbying group fighting against Medicare for All. This money funds lobbying and deceptive ads in defense of a system that has failed millions of people, all while CVS took over $7.2 billion in profit last year alone.
On this critical day for the company, it’s important that they hear from as many people as possible. That’s where you come in.
You will hear a short message, then we’ll connect you to the voicemail of a communications executive at CVS Health.
Hi, my name is _____, and I'm calling from Philadelphia.
I recently saw news of your $5 million donation to fight against Medicare for All, and I’m telling you now, it won’t work.
I’m demanding you to stop your donations to the Partnership for America’s Health Care Future. Health care is a human right that must be guaranteed for all – and I will not stand for your efforts to block reform to our broken health care system so that you can continue to profit off the pain and illness of your customers.
Please, take action to address this immediately.
These calls are tremendously important.
CVS owns Aetna insurance and operates thousands of pharmacies — and they know that under Medicare for All, they won’t be able to price gouge patients on medications or deny coverage to those insured through Aetna.
With enough phone calls to one of their top communications executives, we can send a clear message on the day of their shareholders meeting. In the longer term, we must continue to take action to ensure that massive healthcare conglomerates like CVS are unable to stop desperately needed reform to our system.
In solidarity,
Nurses’ Campaign to Win Medicare for All
