For almost five decades, former Senator Sam Nunn has worked to strengthen U.S. national and global security, reduce nuclear risks, and advance bipartisan solutions to our world's greatest challenges.

In his new book, Sam Nunn: Statesman of the Nuclear Age, Dr. Frank Jones reveals how, as a congressional leader and “shadow secretary of defense,” Senator Nunn helped win the Cold War. As he describes Senator Nunn’s extraordinary contributions, he reminds all readers that Congress has the capacity--even from one lone senator--to promote and enact policies to make the country, and the world, a safer place.

Senator Nunn’s public service continues today through his work at the Nuclear Threat Initiative and as chairman emeritus of CSIS. During a period of political polarization and partisanship, his reputation remains that of a statesman with a record of bipartisanship and a dedication to U.S. security interests.

Senator Nunn and Dr. Jones will be joined by Ambassador Laura Holgate, Vice President for Materials Risk Management at the Nuclear Threat Initiative, to discuss the book, Senator Nunn’s career in the Senate, and his continued work to address today’s nuclear dangers.
