Tomorrow: The Second Amendment Featuring Clark Neily

For Friday’s session, Clark Neily, senior vice president for criminal justice at the Cato Institute, joins National Constitution Center President and CEO Jeffrey Rosen for a discussion about the Second Amendment, and its protection of the right to keep and bear arms. Neily will also discuss his career as an attorney and author, as well as answer questions from participants.

Supreme Court in Review: Article III – From Judicial Selection to Current Cases

In this session, students explore Article III of the U.S. Constitution, which defines the powers of the judicial branch and the Supreme Court. This class covers the nomination and confirmation process of Supreme Court justices and how judicial power (and the Supreme Court’s role) is defined in Alexander Hamilton’s Federalist 78 and cases such as Marbury v. Madison (1803). This session will go right to present day and review the current term to date!

For Friday's session, Robert P. George, McCormick Professor of Jurisprudence and director of the James Madison Program in American Ideals and Institutions at Princeton University, joins us.

Our Constitution set up this system to ensure that no one branch of government would become too powerful, but where did this idea come from and how has this been tested over time in America?

In this session, U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Stephen G. Breyer joins National Constitution Center President and CEO Jeffrey Rosen to discuss the Constitution, civil discourse, and the courts. This student-focused program is an excellent way to wrap up your school year by examining our founding documents and our civic dispositions. Justice Breyer will also discuss his career as a justice and answer questions from students.
