Dear John,
Los Angeles | www.mpac.org | May 12, 2021 - In this second Eid al-Fitr of the COVID pandemic era, faith leaders in Southern California will hold a press conference to deliver a special Eid message addressing challenges, tensions, and a commitment to peace. Ramadan is a time of introspection, with a focus on deep spirituality, gaining closeness with God, and asking the Almighty for forgiveness. It is an unacceptable violation of human rights and human dignity to attack congregants in peaceful prayer while inside Al-Aqsa Mosque. These attacks, timed during prayers for Laylat Al Qadr, the holiest night of the year, at the 3rd holiest site for Muslims, is an unacceptable encroachment on religious freedom. MPAC firmly defends freedom of religion, which is a human and constitutional right, and we support policies that ensure human rights and human dignity for all.
