Friend,

The Republican Party just made it official. If you dare to question Donald Trump and the outright falsehood that the 2020 election was stolen, they’ll kick you out. Liz Cheney is among the most conservative members of the House. But her party just formally voted to remove her from leadership because she wouldn’t stay silent in the face of a dangerous lie that’s already gotten people killed.

January 6th isn’t over. Nearly every single Republican in Washington is getting cozy with the Big Lie and an extremist segment of their party — and it’s not going to get better unless the purveyors of that lie lose their jobs.

We’re taking on the most dangerous members of the “Sedition Caucus” in places we know we can win, but I need your help — chip in to help fund our campaign to mobilize voters in these districts and help end their careers. [[link removed]]

On January 6th, our Capitol building came under violent attack from people who were purposely misled by their leaders. Our Constitution and our democracy survived that moment, but it’s not an exaggeration to say that this fight is far from over.

If one party in a two-party system can simply refuse to acknowledge when the other party wins an election, our democracy doesn’t stand a chance. House Republicans just signaled that they’ll go along with whatever conspiracy nonsense allows them to stay in power. They don’t seem to mind that that kind of talk has already inspired violence — which, I might add, was aimed directly at them. Liz Cheney spoke on the House floor the other night and said something that’s going to stick with me for a long time: “Every one of us who has sworn the oath must act to prevent the unraveling of our democracy. This is not about policy. This is not about partisanship. This is about our duty as Americans. Remaining silent and ignoring the lie emboldens the liar."

All but one House Republican walked out on her while she spoke those words, running away and hiding instead of facing the truth. We can no longer pretend that the problem is only the fringe voices like Marjorie Taylor Greene or Ted Cruz. This week, we got confirmation that if you want a seat at the table in the Republican Party, you have to be willing to lock arms with the people who would attack our democracy.

This isn’t the fight you or I signed up for, but it’s the one in front of us today — and it’s the most important fight I can imagine. Chip in right now and let’s go big to defeat the Sedition Caucus in the next election. [[link removed]]

Thank you for being in this fight alongside me,
-- Amy
