Friend – if you agree the right to vote is the bedrock of American democracy, I need your immediate attention: Voting rights are currently under attack by ultra-conservative state legislatures across the country, including my home state of Michigan.

Anywhere the GOP has an ounce of legislative control, they are making blatant attempts to restrict voting rights by shuttering polling locations, closing ballot drop-off sites, implementing voter ID laws, purging voter rolls and more. 

Congress must act to protect voting rights nationwide before it's too late – and we need every grassroots Democrat in this fight. That's why I'm asking you to join me and my colleagues in supporting the For the People Act.

This sweeping legislation would expand voting access, get dark money out of politics and create anti-corruption laws to protect our electoral system. Now that this bill has passed the House, we just need to pass it through the Senate to get it to President Biden’s desk for signature.
