Dear John,

It’s not too hard for many of us to imagine a world where “Muslim” was synonymous with “terrorist.” For many of us, this was the reality after 9/11. This is not our reality today, but it didn’t happen overnight. Through MPAC’s tireless work dispelling the myths about Islam in the media, engaging with government leaders, and building relationships with the shapers of public opinion, more and more Americans now see the word “Muslim” as synonymous with “neighbor,” “friend,” and “peacemaker.” More people in America than ever before welcome the presence of Islam as an integral part of American pluralism.

Our work goes beyond the headlines, beyond the talking points to build bridges that translate into a more peaceful America from the inside out. Our steadfast work is promoting the Islamic and American values of mercy, justice, peace, human dignity, freedom, and equality for ALL and making sure Muslims are at the table shaping the conversation in pursuit of these values at the highest levels.

“Be ever steadfast in upholding equity, bearing witness to the truth for the sake of God.”
Quran 4:135
