Dear John,

With Governor Gavin Newsom’s May Revision of the 2021-22 state budget coming out this week, NPH shares our take in a new blog post on how the proposal addresses our state’s homelessness and affordable housing needs.

At a time of a historic surplus in our state budget ($75.7 billion) as well as unprecedented needs and racial inequities in our communities, especially due to the COVID-19 pandemic, NPH applauds the Governor for the May Revise’s historic investments toward homelessness solutions and the construction of new affordable homes. We are especially grateful and excited for his commitment of $1.75 billion to build stalled HCD-funded projects throughout the State -- a critical investment to build desperately needed affordable homes.

We urge state lawmakers to advance this historic May Revision as well as  commit to additional immediate and sustained investments at a scale that fully addresses our state’s unmet homelessness and affordable housing needs which are particularly critical during the time of COVID-19 recovery.
