                        | A staggering pandemic; a national uprising for racial justice; a series of increasingly grave threats to our democracy: In so many ways, 2020 upended our lives and our work. But throughout it all, the PEAK community rose to meet the moment.
For our 2020 annual report, we asked some PEAK members to share their stories of the past year—and how PEAK has been a part of them.

                        | New PEAK Pilot Mentorship Program In memory of beloved founding member Orneata Prawl, we are piloting a mentorship program in collaboration with the PEAK Northeast chapter. Starting in July, this yearlong virtual program will bring together a diverse group of mentors and mentees matched based on skill sets, experiences, and preferences.  We hope to expand this program nationally and are exploring creative ideas to bring mentorship opportunities to our broader community. | PEAK in CommunityThe latest news about our sector partnerships and how PEAK is advocating for more equitable grantmaking practices at conferences, convenings, and community conversations.
Being "in community" may not involve traveling for us right now, but we continue to find ways to make new connections on behalf of PEAK and strengthen those with existing partners. PEAK's board of directors and its committee members carry a heavy load in support of our executive and management teams, and serve as innovators and ambassadors to a growing member community. Last month, the board held its first meeting of the year, where it approved our evolved mission, vision, purpose, strategic framework, and logo! Learn more here. President and CEO Satonya Fair joined in welcoming more than 90 participants at a recent New Member Orientation, providing an advance look at the big reveals for our 25th anniversary. Satonya also met with members including the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, Hypertherm HOPE Foundation, and Siragusa Family Foundation.
The Frederick [Maryland] Nonprofit Summit featured Satonya as a panelist alongside Vu Le, Lisa Brown Alexander of Nonprofit HR, Franklyn Baker of United Way Central Maryland, and Jen Bokoff of Disability Rights Fund. Moderated by Janice Simsohn Shaw, the discussion focused on the core topics of leadership, equity, and governance. In his keynote, Vu inspired all Unicorns to unite in elevating community voices, centering efforts in the pursuit of equity, and funding the people!
