Hi Friend,

We know there’s a lot of important issues being talked about this
legislative session. But one thing we cannot let fall through the cracks
is the real opportunity to raise significant revenue to support our state
and its people for years to come. 

The way we do this is by taxing the industry that gets away with paying
little to no taxes in our state: mining. Thanks to generous deductions,
mining does not, and has not, paid what they owe to support our schools,
our healthcare, or our public services. 

As the legislature debates this issue, Nevadans fighting for fixing our
state’s regressive tax structure ought to be included in the conversation.
This is too important to our communities to leave it solely to lobbyists
for the wealthiest people in the world to decide what is fair for them.
That’s where you come in! 

Please call Speaker of the Assembly, Jason Frierson, and ask him to open
up the mining tax conversation to revenue advocates!

“Hello, my name is _________, and I am a Nevadan who supports raising
revenue by ensuring mining companies pay what they owe. I’m calling to
respectfully ask Speaker Jason Frierson to open up discussion about taxing
the mines to Tribal communities, educators, and environmentalists who have
a stake in this process. Thank you for your time.”

can join PLAN Action to make phone calls to your fellow Nevadans in
key districts and ask them to support taxing the mines as well! Only
with every voice on board can we get this resolution passed. 

Every one of these actions is necessary for Nevada to finally make a real
investment in our education, healthcare, and more. It’s going to take
every supporter calling and writing to their legislators to tax mining to
raise revenue this session!
