Today, the Supreme Court begins its new term. Conservatives will want to pay close attention, with cases touching on abortion, DACA, Obamacare, gun rights, and school choice. The House’s efforts to impeach President Trump continue, but according to Heritage legal expert Hans von Spakovsky, the impeachment process is likely not being used in the way that the Framers of the Constitution intended. Supreme Court Gears Up for High-Stakes Cases
The Supreme Court’s new term begins today and promises an exciting set of cases. Justices will hear cases involving:

• a “$12 billion bait-and-switch” caused by Obamacare
• the Trump administration’s decision to roll back the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, policy
• onerous restrictions on gun rights
• claims of employment discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity school choice efforts for religiously affiliated schools
• Louisiana’s law requiring physicians who performs abortions to have admitting privileges at a local hospital
• and a capital defendant’s attempt to employ the insanity defense, among many other cases.

What You Need to Know About Impeachment
House Democrats are forging ahead with impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump based on claims related to a call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. But what exactly does that mean for Trump? “Impeachment is a way of removing public officials for serious misconduct. It has been used very rarely in American history and should follow the norms and standards that America’s Founders understood when they provided for it in the Constitution,” writes Hans von Spakovsky, senior legal fellow at Heritage’s Meese Center. This situation has the potential to become something the Founders never intended for the impeachment process: a standoff between political parties. Heritage Gains the Spotlight With New Audiences
The Heritage Foundation is reaching new audiences far and wide, both at home and abroad. Recent media appearances have included the BBC, Dr. Oz, and The Atlantic. “It’s important that Heritage’s ideas and solutions reach people across America—whether that’s policymakers in the halls of Congress or concerned citizens seeking new ideas,” says Rob Bluey, Heritage’s vice president of communications and executive editor of The Daily Signal. “Reaching these audiences is crucial when it comes to promoting and advancing our mission.” Most recently, Heritage President Kay Coles James was named one of the “most powerful women in Washington” by Washingtonian magazine.
