Few people in public life today have been more a part of the Republican Party than Liz Cheney who has served in the House Republican leadership and whose father served in Congress, as George W. Bush’s Vice President, and in nearly every Republican Administration since Richard Nixon.

But this morning House Republicans voted to remove Representative Cheney from her leadership position as Republican Conference Chair because she committed the ultimate heresy — she refused to embrace Donald Trump’s Big Lie about the 2020 presidential election.

That’s right, today’s vote confirms it: The Republican Party is a wholly owned subsidiary of Trump Inc. It’s Donald Trump’s Republican party, facts be damned. And we need to be ready to stop them from undermining our democratic system.

Will you rush a contribution to stop the Trump Republicans from returning to power in 2022? We need to be ready to protect our democracy and our majority.

I don’t agree with Rep. Cheney on much. But I believe in our two party system and I have worked successfully to build consensus with Republicans and pass legislation during my years of public service. That’s not possible if the Republican Party doesn’t live in the real world, doesn’t accept facts, or respect the legitimate results of free and fair elections.

Cheney’s expulsion means that the Big Lie that the 2020 election was stolen from Trump is now the official position of the Republican party.

The stakes in 2022 just went up even higher. I need you to be part of this. Can you chip in whatever you can to make sure we are prepared to protect our majority from a Trump resurgence?

In the last four plus years we have seen that our system of government is more fragile than we ever thought. I believe Americans are ready to engage more than ever before to defend our democracy from Trumpism and destruction.
