Sally C. Pipes / Pacific Research Institute
Sally is President, CEO, and Thomas W. Smith Fellow in Health Care Policy at the Pacific Research Institute. Prior to becoming president of PRI in 1991, she was assistant director of the Fraser Institute, based in Vancouver, Canada.
In January 2020, Encounter Books published Ms. Pipes’ latest book, False Premise, False Promise: The Disastrous Reality of Medicare for All, which reached #1 on Amazon’s Health Law bestseller list.
Sally is a frequently called upon guest for media interviews, speeches/debates, and meetings with policymakers, sharing her ideas for solutions that would provide better quality and access to healthcare while lowering costs. In September 2019, she and her debate partner won a prestigious Intelligence Squared debate, arguing against the motion, “Replace Private Insurance with Medicare for All.”
Sally published over 450 op-eds (including reprints) in publications nationwide in 2020, and she writes regular columns for Forbes.com, Newsmax, and the Washington Examiner’s “Beltway Confidential” blog.
In April 2018, she received an honorary doctorate from Pepperdine University’s School of Public Policy for her work on healthcare reform.
A former Canadian, Sally became an American citizen in 2006. She is married to Professor Charles R. Kesler.
Naomi Lopez / Goldwater Institute
Naomi is the Director of Healthcare Policy for the Goldwater Institute, where she leads the Institute’s efforts to implement federal and state healthcare reforms that benefit all Americans.
Her work focuses on a broad range of healthcare issues, including the Right to Try, off-label communications, pharmaceutical drug pricing, supply-side healthcare reforms, the Affordable Care Act, Medicaid, and 21st-century healthcare innovation.
Naomi has 25 years of experience in policy and has previously served at organizations including the Illinois Policy Institute, the Pacific Research Institute, the Institute for Socioeconomic Studies, and the Cato Institute. A frequent media guest and public speaker, Naomi has authored hundreds of studies, opinion articles and commentaries. She holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Trinity University in Texas and a master’s degree in government from Johns Hopkins University.
