New York has the chance to lead the nation by passing one of the biggest campaign finance reforms since Citizens United.

The Democracy Preservation Act, currently under consideration by the New York State Senate, would tackle one of the major sources of big money in state politics by prohibiting foreign-influenced corporate spending in elections. If enacted, foreign-influenced corporations like Airbnb and Amazon would be barred from contributing to candidates, parties, or committees (including super PACs) or from engaging in their own direct election spending.
