Tell Your State Legislators to Avoid Funding Cuts to Services for Infants and Toddlers!
The experiences children have during their first three years of life shape their brains in a profound way that sets them up for lifelong success or lifelong challenges. To ensure all children reach their full potential, families must be supported in their communities by programs and policies that prioritize this special window of opportunity.
The governor’s proposed FY22 budget includes a $7 million reduction in funding to the state’s Early Intervention program. Now is not the time to cut state funding for a program that supports infants and toddlers with developmental delays or disabilities.

Similarly, funding for evidence-based home visiting programs supported by the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) has not been increased by the legislature in well over a decade.
Join Start Early and other advocates to ask our lawmakers to prioritize our state’s youngest learners with increased investments in IDHS:
-
$25 million increase for the Early Intervention program
-
$4 million increase for evidence-based home visiting
-
Invest significant state and federal funds into the Child Care Assistance Program
