10th anniversary of
the Istanbul Convention:

Take action.

Dear John,

Did you know that since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have seen a dramatic increase in reported cases of violence against women in Europe?

Yesterday we marked the 10th anniversary of the Istanbul Convention – a treaty against violence against women and domestic violence. Besides violence, women had to bear a disproportionate part of the COVID-19 crisis burden. They were more affected by family care obligations, which led to even more unpaid and unrecognised work. This needs to change.

We, the European Greens, for years have been the loudest voices for gender equality and women's rights. With Turkey's withdrawal from the Istanbul Convention and Poland's plan to do the same, the ratification and full implementation of the Istanbul Convention is today more important than ever.

Help us convince governments that violence against women and domestic violence cannot longer be considered a private matter. Take charge of our feminist future.
