The Green
New Deal has gained strong support since its introduction in 2018.

But we know that many folks still have some questions about just exactly
what the Green New Deal is, and what it will accomplish. So as Alexandria
and Senator Markey reintroduced the resolution in Congress last month, we
invited you to submit any questions that were on your mind. Here’s answers
to questions many of you had:

How quickly will the Green New Deal lower U.S. carbon emissions?

Reducing carbon emissions is critical for saving our planet — the
carbonization of our economy is responsible for extreme weather disasters
like the wildfires in California, the winter storms in Texas, and
devastating floods in the Midwest. The Green New Deal would achieve
net-zero greenhouse gas emissions through a fair and just transition for
all communities and workers over 10 years.

How will the Green New Deal create more jobs?

President Biden said it himself during his recent joint address: “When I
think of climate change, I think of jobs.” The Green New Deal would create
millions of good-paying, union jobs in the green energy sector — ensuring
that workers who have kept our energy grids running will have good jobs to
transition to, like wind energy technicians and solar photovoltaic
installers.

How can I become an advocate for the Green New Deal?

We know that a strong way to grow this movement and build support for the
Green New Deal is to have conversations with the people closest to us and
invest in deep canvassing. Deep canvassing means taking the time to reach
voters where they’re at and sharing longer, thoughtful, and persuasive
two-way conversations about the issues they care about and talking through
any questions and misunderstandings about the Green New Deal.

It’s also important that voters support candidates for office who will
fight for a Green New Deal — and also make calls to their current
Representatives and urge them to support the Green New Deal.

We’ve invested many of our resources into reaching voters right here in
NY-14 and partnering with groups across the country to reach every voter
and share with them the importance of passing the Green New Deal now.

contribution today to power our deep canvassing work and keep AOC in
Congress fighting for this transformative framework. Can you chip in

Simply put, our country is facing both high unemployment and a disastrous
climate crisis right now. The Green New Deal tackles both by shifting our
country's priority to ensuring high-wage jobs, net-zero emissions in 10
years, clean air and water for all, and much more.

We need a Green New Deal — now. And with your support, we can pass this
transformative framework and start building a more sustainable future for
all.

Thank you,

Team AOC
