John — A Trump Republican with a record of attacking voting rights just entered the race for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania.

His candidacy is a threat to our democracy and every Pennsylvanian and American’s right to cast a ballot.

You’re probably going to hear a lot about this new Republican opponent, Sean Parnell, in the coming weeks and months. But here’s what you need to know: Following the 2020 presidential election, Sean Parnell tried to invalidate millions of Pennsylvanians’ lawful mail-in votes in an attempt to undermine faith in our elections.

And Parnell’s candidacy comes as more and more states pass suppressive voting laws that hurt our democracy and make it harder to vote.

We know that if Pat Toomey had his way, we’d have laws like that on the books in Pennsylvania. And Pennsylvania can’t afford another U.S. Senator who’s bent on advancing an agenda to chip away at folks’ constitutional right to vote.

Instead, we ought to send someone to Washington who will work hard to enshrine this fundamental right and expand access to the ballot box.

That’s why it’s so important that we help elect Val, who will fight like hell to help pass federal policies that ensure every Pennsylvanian who’s eligible to vote can cast a ballot and make their voice heard.
