John,
Over a year into this pandemic, this much is clear: Women have been forced to bear the brunt of this crisis.
Our nation cannot begin to recover while women are being left behind. Millions of women have been forced out of the workforce — rolling back decades of progress that so many women and allies in our feminist movement fought for. President Biden and Vice President Harris just put forth the American Families Plan and the American Jobs Plan, and now it's time for Congress to do its job and get this crucial legislation passed.
That's why we're coming to you for your help, John: Sign our letter urging Congress to pass the American Families Plan and the American Jobs Plan as soon as possible.
Here's why your voice on this issue matters: The American Families Plan and American Jobs Plan would give all families access to community college, preschool, affordable child care, and paid leave. Passing these bills would have a life-changing impact on so many families and address the biggest challenges women in our country face right now — but we know that they'll face steep uphill battles in the Senate as Republicans try to stall and block their passage.
We need to make it clear that Women’s Marchers are ready to fight even harder to bring these bills to life and make sure women’s issues are prioritized in this administration’s agenda. That’s why we hope you can take one minute today to help out:
The most recent jobs report is further proof of what many Americans have been seeing – and feeling – firsthand for months: Women are being hardest hit during the coronavirus recession.
Women are routinely expected to work a double shift: One managing child care and labor at home, often without help or pay, and a second at work. That is why Congress and this administration need to make sure building back better means building back better for everyone. The American Jobs Plan and American Families Plan will be an important first step.
There is no time to waste. Every day that passes without real relief for women is a day that our country and our economy is held back from full recovery. It will take all of us coming together — and as many Women's Marchers as possible signing this letter to Congress — to urge our leaders to move forward with both of these plans as soon as possible. That's why we hope you'll take a moment to add your name today:
Thank you for signing on and taking action,
Women's March
