Dear John,

Did you see my message to you about my son, Aiden, last week?

When he was 2 years old, we couldn't understand why he kept getting hurt. He suffered from bones that broke easily. Some days he struggled to speak. And a scan showed something was off in his eye socket.

We had visited his pediatrician. He was admitted to a hospital. We visited an ophthalmologist. And an orthopedist. But it wasn't until we went to Children's Hospital Los Angeles that anyone could give our family answers that made sense.

John, I truly don't want any other family to go through what we did. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. But if they have no choice? If they're struggling to find answers for why their sweet child doesn't feel well? Then I want them to have what we had.

That's why I'm asking for your support of the hospital today. I'm told Ace Hardware will double every donation made by May 14, so I hope you won't pass up this opportunity to make a gift that goes 2X as far to help care for kids like mine. Will you please make a gift of $10 or more to the Children's Fund today? Every dollar will go TWICE as far, up to $100,000.

Your gift + this 2x match by Ace Hardware = 2x the impact for kids like Aiden.

I don't think I can really describe how frightening it was to know something wasn't right, but not to know what.

When Aiden was finally diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML), it was a relief to finally have answers, even if they weren't what we wanted to hear. Understanding what was wrong meant we could learn how to help Aiden fight.

Help Children's Hospital Los Angeles be the place that families can turn to with your gift of $10 or more today. Every dollar will be multiplied 2X to ensure that every child who needs it can receive the kind of care my son Aiden did.

I'm so grateful for the exceptional care Aiden received. It was one of the most challenging times in our lives, but the quality of care and compassion of the staff made such a difference. From the state-of-the-art facility, to the best technology, to the truly incredible people who devote their lives to caring for kids, we simply couldn't have had a better team working with us and rooting Aiden on.

Today, Aiden is in the second grade and has had no sign of leukemia detected in more than five years. And we wouldn't be where we are today without Children's Hospital Los Angeles.

John, I hope our story has inspired you to give a donation of $10 or more before this Friday's deadline. Your gift will be DOUBLED to ensure that every child who needs it can come to Children's Hospital Los Angeles and receive the kind of care my son Aiden did.

Thank you for all that you do for the kids and families like mine at Children's Hospital Los Angeles.

Sincerely,
