Developing news, Friend? ? ? ? ? Friend ? the Biden-Harris administration has just proposed a rule to slash super-pollutant HFCs 85% over the next 15 years ? turning around a rule at lightning speed in order to implement the law passed at the end of 2020.

Hydrofluorocarbons, or HFCs, are extremely potent industrial gases, commonly used in refrigerators, air conditioners, and other cooling applications. These climate-changing chemicals do great damage when released into the atmosphere, the most abundant of them (HFC-134a) being 3,790 times more damaging to the climate than carbon dioxide over a 20 year period.

If this rule passes, it will be a huge win for climate justice, and an important measure to protect our communities for generations to come. Here's the problem: Polluting industries and Koch-backed think tanks are piling on resources to sink it before it's finalized. If that goes unanswered, we're going to lose. We're looking for a response from every LCV member right now ? we're asking:

Donate now to fight for clean energy alternatives, and slash HFC emissions. Even $5 is enough to make a difference, and every contribution is being triple matched right now ? [link removed]

The Biden-Harris administration is coming off of an incredible first 100 days. But this is just the beginning, friend, and they're leaning into the next 100 days with the dedication to climate justice that they committed to on the campaign trail ? and they need the support of the conservation voter movement to pull it off.

This rule is good for the planet and the economy. If we pull this off, we can avert 0.5 C of planetary warming by 2100, and begin to phase into clean energy solutions. And, these overall reductions in greenhouse gasses will benefit populations that disproportionately suffer from the effects of these high emissions and the related climate effects, namely low-income communities and communities of color.

200+ countries have already agreed to phase out HFCs, and the U.S finally has the momentum and administration we need to make this happen.

We cannot let Big Polluters and Koch-backed talking heads stop this rule to continue lining their own pockets, and set progress back decades.

Please, pitch in today to help slash HFCs. Triple your impact. This fight is too important to miss, and even $5 can make a difference ? [link removed]

The fight to protect our communities and our climate future is now, friend. We cannot afford to lose any more time when environmental justice and a clean energy future is on the line.

Thank you for being a part of this movement.

Onward,
