Hi Friend,

You know, it says a lot about the Republican party that they are not only running our state into the ground -- they’re also bragging about it.

Last week, after Republicans in the Texas legislature passed a racist anti-voter bill and the most extreme 6-week abortion ban in the country, they were yelling about it all over the news:

“This is the most conservative Texas legislature in decades.”
“That was the most conservative 48 hours in Texas legislative history.”

Republicans are only showing leadership on two things: rolling back the clock on progress and refusing to deal with the issues that matter. And we all saw exactly what that means for Texans in February, when Republican negligence caused almost 200 people to die during the winter storm -- including through the worst carbon monoxide poisoning disaster in U.S. history. Why would any elected official ever want to brag about this hands-off, do-nothing governance of the Republican party?

I’ll be honest: it’s been a rough couple weeks. But finally, Republicans aren’t lying -- they really are doing as much harm to Texans as they can squeeze into a legislative session. And I know it’s been scary, and painful, and exhausting for all of us.

But here’s the thing, Friend. I know, and you know, that with policies like that, they can’t win. And even they know it! That’s why they’re trying to pass the most extreme legislation they can -- before they get voted out in 2022 by the growing Texas majority.

Whether it’s registering new voters or defending our right to vote, we are laying the groundwork to defeat Republicans as definitively as possible. Friend, will you help us get there by chipping in your first $7 of 2021 today?
