Folks —

You may not remember this, but the For the People Act was our first order of business after Democrats took back the House in 2018. I was proud to have voted for it.

But then, Mitch McConnell announced it was dead-on-arrival in the U.S. Senate, and it ended up being one of the more than 500 bills that collected dust on his desk. (Yes, you read that right — 500! No exaggeration.)

My hope is that we can finally get dark money and corruption out of our politics now that McConnell is no longer calling the shots, but I have no doubt it will be a tough fight given that the Senate is split 50-50 right now.

The truth is, just one vote could make the difference between passing reforms that will allow us to take control of our democracy and repair our elections — or allowing Republicans to continue running amok. We need to get this bill passed right away, and we’ll need your help to keep up the pressure.

It's time to actually get big money out of politics, expand voting rights, and hold our leaders to a higher ethical standard. Add your name to demand the Senate pass the For the People Act and make sure our democracy is working for all Americans:
