Friend, Are you a Walmart shareholder or do you work for one? If so, you can urge the company to make progress on eliminating super-polluting greenhouse gases leaking from its stores! We need you to vote FOR resolution #4 – the first-ever shareholder action on polluting refrigerants – by June 2! Highly potent greenhouse gases called hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) are leaking out of Walmart facilities and contribute nearly half of Walmart’s direct climate-damaging emissions. HFCs have up to thousands of times the warming power of CO2. Walmart emits over three million metric tons of HFCs a year, which equates to more than half a million cars on the road. Walmart has a history of not meeting past pledges to tackle its HFC emissions. It recently set a goal to transition to “low-impact” refrigerants two decades from now, but it hasn’t released any details on how it will reach this target OR what it even means by “low-impact.” That’s why investors have filed a resolution to address Walmart’s vague target – they’re urging the company to report its plans in greater detail and explain how it will limit its refrigerants impact on the climate. We’re asking Walmart shareholders to vote FOR resolution #4 on your proxy statements. You can learn more about your voting options and financial risks of Walmart’s inaction on refrigerants here. Join other investors in holding Walmart accountable for greater transparency on its climate impacts! For people and the planet, |
