Dear friend,

In an exclusive, first-ever interview before a live audience, Dr. Kevin Sabet will be joined by Rob Corry, the architect of Amendment 64 that legalized marijuana in Colorado, as he shares his regrets about his pro-pot industry advocacy.

Mr. Corry recently released a ground-breaking oped in Colorado discussing regrets and second thoughts about the initiative he supported to legalize marijuana in Colorado.

Date: Thursday, May 6th at 2:00 PM Eastern

Mr. Corry played a prominent and pivotal role in the movement to legalize marijuana in Colorado. He helped draft and place Amendment 64 on Colorado’s 2012 statewide ballot — permitting production and retail sales of recreational pot.

As a trial attorney, he represented hundreds of clients accused of marijuana-related offenses, and he litigated cases and administrative actions involving Amendment 64’s implementation. Yet, nearly a decade after voter approval of his handiwork, he now professes deep disappointment and wide-ranging regrets.

In a landmark op-ed in the Denver Gazette, he issues a searing indictment of how legalization has turned out. He decries the legal marijuana industry’s “crony” capitalism and its cozy relationship with the government.

He lets on, “I wish I could be proud of what we created, but I’m not. The outcome of 64 is shameful, hurts people, and Colorado is not ‘safer.’ ”

Following the release of Dr. Kevin Sabet's latest book, Smokescreen: What the Marijuana Industry Doesn't Want You to Know, this interview with one of the so-called "Founding Fathers" of legalization adds to the chorus of voices expressing caution about the further expansion of the marijuana industry.
