Last month, the Biden Administration announced plans to bring home all troops from Afghanistan by the end of this year. Their commitment to a full withdrawal by September 11, 2021 marks a significant shift from the previous administration and a major step toward ending this two-decade-long war.

But despite the promising outlook, the administration then announced its intentions to expand the Pentagon budget to over $700 billion and spend even more on defense than Trump ever did.

After taking one step forward, we took two steps back. With so many struggling to make ends meet, the last thing we need is yet another inflated weapons and defense budget.

Barbara’s voice has been a constant in the push to end forever wars and limit unnecessary military and weapons spending, like when she was the sole vote against the Authorization for Use of Military Force in 2001.

She has always fought to better align our budget priorities with the most pressing needs facing our country. She’s not going to stop now.

Barbara will always step up, both in words and action, to hold people in power accountable, which is why she’s calling on President Biden to make meaningful defense cuts to his budget.
