Word of mouth is critical.

The American Rescue Plan has helped dramatically ramp up nationwide COVID-19 vaccine distribution, and now, over 150 million Americans have gotten at least their first dose.

We’re on the right track, but our vaccination progress over the next month will be critical to getting the pandemic under control. We need to lift up the stories of what vaccination has meant for so many of us -- so that others can see how it will benefit them and their communities, too. Essential workers are finally feeling safe on the job again, easing the worry they'll bring the virus home to their family. Grandparents are meeting grandchildren for the first time. Families are visiting loved ones in nursing homes they haven't seen in over a year.

Word of mouth is key to meeting President Biden’s new goal to get 70% of American adults at least one dose of the vaccine by the Fourth of July. And we need your help.

In the past, I’ve asked you to find five people and talk to them about making a plan to vote ahead of Election Day. Today, I’m asking you to find five people again, but this time, I need you to talk to them about making a plan to get vaccinated.

Here are some other ways you can help out:

  1. Share Your Story: If you’ve already gotten your vaccine, please take a moment to tell us how it has impacted your life.

  2. Share on Social Media: Share your vaccine story and resources about where and how to get vaccinated with your social networks.

  3. Spread the Word: Forward this email to five people and make sure they have a plan to get vaccinated. If they’re already vaccinated, ask them to join our word-of-mouth campaign and find five friends, too.

Ultimately, I'm not going to be the one who convinces hesitant Amerians to get the vaccines -- it's going to be their friends, their family, their neighbors; people they know and trust in their communities. For someone out there, you are that friend or that neighbor.

With gratitude,

Sherrod
