John --

When I got my vaccine 2 weeks ago, I teared up a little. Not because of the jab (if you haven’t gotten yours yet -- trust me, you barely feel it).

I was thinking about the people in my life I’ll help protect. My daughters, my husband, my mother-in-law, and every single person I interact with every single day. And even all the folks in the grocery store and on the street who I haven’t met yet -- but who, once my vaccine has fully taken effect, I’ll be protecting.

I got vaccinated for those I love, and those they love.

Because of everyone in California who’s done their part and gotten the vaccine, California is reopening. L.A. and Ventura County are doing well -- with COVID rates trending down. But we can’t let our guard down. We’ve been in this pandemic long enough to know that the virus knows no borders and takes no partisan positions. Misinformation about vaccines, frustration with safety measures and uncomfortable masks -- these things only benefit the virus.

So, if you haven’t gotten your vaccine yet, please do your part to keep your own loved ones (and their loved ones, and their loved ones) safe from the virus.

You can sign up for your vaccine appointment here: https://covid19.ca.gov/vaccines

Please do your part to keep us all safe -- and bring us closer to embracing our families and friends again.

Thanks,

Christy

P.S. -- Every time I see a syringe, I think of my mom, one of the most caring people I know, who spent her life working as a nurse. If there are health care workers, nurses, or doctors in your life -- I hope you will get vaccinated as soon as possible to honor everything they’ve done to end this pandemic.
