As a progressive, I’m sure you’ve heard one of the biggest conservative talking points against progressive policies many times: “But how will you pay for it?”
Well, I know exactly how we’ll pay for it. Before I break down my three-part plan to make policies like Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, and $15 minimum wage a reality, can you chip in $3 or whatever you can afford today?

1️⃣ Eliminate the “step-up basis” loophole that allows relatives of a deceased person to avoid paying capital gain taxes – contributing to the concentration of wealth in already high-earning households at the cost of tax revenue for the country. 2️⃣ Make corporations actually pay taxes — not 0%. At least 55 of America’s largest corporations paid zero taxes in 2020, and 26 of those companies haven’t paid any taxes three years in a row. 3️⃣ Equalize capital gains for people who make over $1 million, removing major incentives for tax sheltering and other attempts wealthy people use to manipulate the system and avoid taxes. |
There’s no other way to say it – each part of this plan exists because of the same problem: the ultra-wealthy are doing everything they can to avoid paying their fair share of taxes.
I have never accepted corporate PAC or lobbyist money – and I was the first candidate for federal office to hold myself to that standard. I stand by that decision every single day, because it allows me to be an independent voice in every fight.
I will never back away from doing what’s right, even if it means calling on the largest and most powerful corporations in the world to pay their fair share. Because once they do, we will have more than enough money to fund lifesaving legislation like Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, and a $15 minimum wage.
